The Eco-Patent Commons

By Stuart Soffer on

Just as I started to consider IP aspects of the green wave, I
stumbled upon the href="http://www.wbcsd.org/templates/TemplateWBCSD5/layout.asp?type=p&MenuId=M...">Eco-Patent
Commons, a repository for IP relating to sustainable growth and other ‘green technologies’ placed into the public domain.  The agency is sponsored by the World
Business Council for Sustainable Development.  Thirty patents have this far been placed into the commons by IBM, Nokia, Pitney-Bowes and Sony.

Most of the patents address processing waste from the semiconductor manufacturing process. One though is easy to understand:  US7,251,458 style='font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%'>Systems and methods for recycling of cell phones at the end of life from Nokia.

Check it out.
