We have a new site here at CIS and it's tripped out with a number of cool features. I'm going to play with the tagging and will do my best to figure out how drupal works. So far, so good.
In the two days since the site launched there have been a number of things I've wanted to post about. I was unable to log in to the site due to some special "features", eh hem, but that's all fixed now... So, without further ado, here are a few things I wanted to jot down:
(1) Suffice it to say that I'm pleased with the results in the Barrett v. Rosenthal case (commentary on this from Eric Goldman covers this well) (Here's my take on the oral arguments in September)
(2) I'm psyched to have participated in PodCampWest. I mingled and reconnected with many many cool audio and video podcasters (and soon to be podcasters). I'm grateful for all the reconnections and new connections at this event, and thank the organizers for pulling it off. I understand an LA and Seattle version are in the works, so if you couldn't make this event, there will be more to come.
(3) I'm disturbed in thinking about the effect of proposed lawyer advertising laws in NY and CA on lawyer podcasters, legal bloggers, and other JDs who write, comment, speak, collaborate, share ideas, and educate through these technologies (listen to the discussion of this topic on TWIL episode 2 (11/11/06) starting at about the 45th minute); and
(4) Finally, I want to give a shout out to my co-panelists at the California Lawyers for the Arts, digital music licensing panel this past weekend: producer Noah Perry of merritt sound, Tony Berman of Berman Entertainment and Technology Law, producer Chris Carter, Jennifer Burke Sylva, and our moderator Howie Cockrill. Enjoyed panelizing with you all, and of course I always learn a ton when I get to mingle in the music world.
I think that's it for now!
