He cites examples of politicians threatening journalists, under the conservative coalition with the far-right Freedom Party. “The general sentiment definitely was freedom of speech in Austria was now up for negotiation,” he says. If the ÖVP-right-wing coalition returns to govern parliament, he worries any attempts to limit Austrian rights will be accelerated."
