January 8, 2021: Elaine Chao announces her resignation as secretary of transportation effective January 11, 2021.
 
January 14, 2021: NHTSA announces its final rule in a press release, a webpage, and a tweet.
 
January 20, 2021: Joe Biden becomes president and freezes regulatory actions pending review.
 
As of February 11, 2021: The final rule has not been published in the Federal Register and is missing from the docket. The press release is gone, and the webpage is down.
