I was a bit disturbed this morning as I drove down the penninsula to the Podcasting Summit in Redwood City. What disturbed me was Scott Cleland's "argument" on NPR for why net neturality is a bad idea. He uses the phrase "Net Competition" as a catch phrase to support the special interests that he represents. (NPR's link to text and audio feed is available here.) (Link to Scott's testimony in 2004 on cable competition here.) I'm not alone in finding Scott's commentary unpersuasive. See the comments on his blog, and, of course the information distributed on this issue by EFF, Public Knowledge and many others.
Tomorrow we will hear the counter points by Craig Newmark (yes, the Craig from Craigslist). I look forward to hearing his commentary.
{UPDATE} Here's a link to Craig Newmark's comments. here's an excerpt:
{6/30: UPDATE: Rob @ podcast411 pointed me to this blog post that explains a little background on "netcompetition.org", the organization represented by Scott Cleland.}
