The note about the merger of iTunes and jDate is interesting. As a person familiar with -- if not necessarily a member of -- both platforms, my sense is that the perfect "merger" of these sites is largely being achieved through the social networking mega-sites such as MySpace, Facebook.com, and the now almost-dinosaurish Friendster. These massive social networking sites, about which even those in the 25-30-something demographic are at least aware (if not necessarily utilizing), provide the kind of scaled ability to link to numerous individuals and the kind of searchability that makes targeted, large-scale online meet-and-greets / dating a reality. With a click of the mouse, users can browse through dozens of personals and find individuals in their city, in their friend network, or on their campus who share common interests, common hobbies, or maybe, even, a common religious preference. Lisa, I'm happy to report that -- even in the absence of an iTunes level dating site -- NJBS and NJGs probably have more outlets than ever before to find one another. Silicon Valley or otherwise.
DATING MEGA-SITES ALREADY EXIST
