Stanford CIS

Discussion on Google

By Colette Vogele on

Tarleton Gillespie, a fellow Fellow (I don't know why it cracks me up to say that, but it does) from CIS, has an interesting article/post on the topic of the Google Print stuff.  The article is primarily about fair use and that debate, and the comments are interesting, though I don't agree that Google should be stopped from its book print project.

I added a brief comment to the post because I didn't want Section 110(1) to be overlooked. That section of the Copyright Act allows teachers in non-profit institutions to perform or display copyrighted works in the classroom without infringing copyright. It's an important exception and I'd hate for people to forget about it!
