Non-residential fellow Jonathan M. Eisenberg is a litigator in the Intellectual Property & Internet Practice Group at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP in Los Angeles, CA.  He is co-editor of CIPerati, an American Bar Association electronic newsletter covering cyberspace-related intellectual property legal issues.  Mr. Eisenberg also served for the last two years on the editorial board of The Trademark Reporter.  He earned his bachelor's degree from Stanford University in 1992 and his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall) School of Law in 1996, and was a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Linda H. McLaughlin of the Central District of California.

It has been reported that only one-quarter of U.S. businesses have cybersecurity insurance, even though probably a majority of companies have experienced cybersecurity breaches. Insurance companies have not fully worked out attractive configurations and prices for relevant insurance policies.  Mr. Eisenberg intends to research, write and speak about how U.S. businesses might develop reasonable, flexible and effective cybersecurity policies and practices that, along with complying with legal/regulatory mandates, will miminize, or at least make more predictable, cybersecurity risks, and will help insurance companies provide widespread, comprehensive coverage for these risks.
