We've been having a horrible time with comment spam so I turned comments off on my site.  I was spending so much time deleting it, and I wasn't really blogging that much.  Now that I'm planning to start blogging more, I turned comments back on.  We'll see how that works out.

Spam, generally, is such a silly problem.  Like spyware, it's a cyberpolicy issue I cannot stand talking about.  Get a good filter and stop opening attachments!  Yet they turn out to be the two things I 'work on' that affect my parents-- and most casual users of the internet-- the most.  So I'm glad there are lots of smart people out there trying to find solutions.  My fear is that most solutions appear either ineffective, or not worth the price because of their impact on speech, privacy, anonymity or other things I value too much to forbear for something that is just annoying.  I'm not sure what the solution is.
