Nude Swimming in Private Clubs

Dana Vachon of the NY Times has a fascinating piece uncovering a long tradition of nude male swimming in private clubs.

It brings to mind the hand-holding of Bush and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Abdullah.

It also brings to mind my colleague Gayatri Gopinath's useful term, "homo-social."  (Just to be clear: There is no hint of disparagement in my use of that term.)

All of this serves to remind us how socially-constructed our behaviors are.
