Secure Flight Working Group

By Lauren Gelman on

I was asked to serve on the Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Authority's (TSA) Secure Flight Privacy/IT Working Group, and I decided to say yes, even though it required both signing an NDA and receiving a Secret security clearance.  Secure Flight is the sucessor program to CAPPS II, and is the program that deals with identity-screening on domestic flights.

I do not think the government should discuss these matters in private, but I think in my role as a quasi- academic, it is encumbant on me to try to help those in government who seem to want to do the right thing, and I do believe Lisa Dean, TSA's Privacy Officer is one of those people.

I believe our final report will be public and I look forward to making that available here.
