A Minneapolis TV station apparently filmed the Al Qaqaa facility on April 18th, nine days after Saddam's fall, with the boxes of explosives still intact. But the Pentagon continues to lead. Rather than protect the nation, it has become the nation's leading voice for partisan politics:
The Pentagon also notes that it has destroyed 400,000 tons of munitions from thousands of sites across Iraq, and that the explosives at Al Qaqaa account for "one-tenth of 1 percent" of that amount.
But doesn't the Pentagon understand the distinction between "munitions" generally and "high explosives" in particular? A ton of munitions can't be compared to a ton of high explosives.
The sad truth is that the Pentagon understands, but is willing to try to mislead the American people.
