First Post - my iPod

By Stanford Center for Internet and Society on

So today I won a prize. A mini-iPod. It is quite the toy, however, I run this strange, mystical operating system called Linux, that Apple seems to pretend doesn't exist. On top of my already pressing life as a 1L (more on that later) I now have to get my new toy to work with my other toys. There are many websites dedicated to the iPod on Linux project, but there is no easy fix. Most involve reformatting the iPod itself so that it basically runs the Linux OS instead.  As a novice (I've been a Linux novice for four years) this is not something I can undertake alone...

In other news, everyone's favorite private rocket ship, SpaceShipOne, did its first real flight today on the way to the X-Prize. [Reuters] The first time they did the flight, I had to go to work and so my husband and good friend went in my stead. They took some pictures and said that overall it was very cool because it was historical, but the actual event was pretty dull and packed with crazy people. When this becomes more widespread, to the point where after paying off my student loans I can do it,  I will take my future children's college fund and go. Little Bobby and Sue may not get to go to college, but at least there mommy got a rocket ship ride!
