Content industry bidding for CD copy protection in Longhorn

According to CNet News.com, the major recording studios are asking Microsoft to build a "framework" for copy protected CDs into the next version of the Windows OS, codenamed Longhorn. Besides being bad for consumer and bad for the market, it seems to this non-expert that such a move by MS could open them up to whole new avenues of antitrust liability.
