Bounty-hunters -- the Net's new lawmen?

First SCO, now Microsoft -- offering bounties for the author(s) of MyDoom.

Okay, putting aside the fact that the author(s) of MyDoom (*cough*scriptkiddies*cough*) richly deserve to know the Bitter Taste of Justice, privately-funded bounties raise some red flags. The availability of security / justice shouldn't be simple functions of one's bank balance.
