First, congrats on the awesome conference, and a big hand for all our stalwart bloggers.
Just ran by this and thought it was more than noteworthy. For the other side, this is the gov's site to respond to critics of Patriot, and it seems to say that the bill is low-impact, because the measures had already mostly been allowed against organized crime and the drug trade and are just being expanded to include suspected terrorists. However, these original methods of surveillance had been contested in their limited context before Patriot expanded them, and the expansion isn't low-impact because "suspected terrorists" sounds like pretty much anyone, to me.
What do you all think of the likely impacts?
Patriot Act II?
