The New York Post is reporting, and apparently several sources (including former RIAA-head Hilary Rosen) have confirmed, that Louisiana Representative and Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee Billy Tauzin, R-LA, has been named the heir to Jack Valenti's throne as Chairman/CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America. A more cynical person than your correspondent might view this as a fine reward for Tauzin's determined, and apparently successful, efforts to bind the DTV transition firmly to government-mandated DRM.
