Creative Commons Launch!

By Stanford Center for Internet and Society on

Creative Commons has released version 1.0 of its Licensing Project, and the first release of content under its Founders' Copyright. These are the first two projects in a series that Creative Commons will launch, all designed to help build the public domain. Creative Commons has developed a Web application that helps people dedicate their creative works to the public domain -- or retain their copyright while licensing them as free for certain uses, on certain conditions. Professor Lessig, founder of the Center for Internet & Society, is the chair of the Creative Commons project.
