The Stanford Law School Center for Internet and Society (CIS) is seeking a residential Research Fellow to conduct policy analysis regarding global legal liabilities of communications network intermediaries. The Fellow would study intermediary liability and how various legal obligations, safe harbors, and immunities affect innovation and freedom of expression. The Fellow would work as an independent researcher in a team environment on this project, with responsibility for writing a series of papers or conducting research symposia on issues related to intermediary liability.
Other responsibilities of this Fellow would be participation in writing for the CIS blog; working with students interested in intermediary liability and civil liberties issues; organizing research meetings and outreach, possibly including public speaking; and engagement in the intellectual life of the Law School generally.Qualifications for this fellowship include a strong background in intermediary liability law and in the business practices of Internet service providers, network platforms and digital communications tool developers. The Fellow must have exceptional writing and research skills. Expertise in the law of non-U.S. nations is desirable. The Fellow must be self-motivated, work well in a team environment, and be creative. This fellowship would start immediately and run for a period of one year.
