Insurance resource for documentary film makers

by Colette Vogele, posted on February 27, 2007 - 5:55am

Lessig has announced on his blog the unique partnership between the Stanford Fair Use Project, a forward-thinking insurance company, and entertainment lawyer Michael Donaldson. This collaboration (or is it mash up?) allows documentary film makers who follow the Center for Social Media's Documentary Filmmakers' Statement of Best Practices to obtain insurance for their films at a reduced rate. If they get into a fair use-related scuffle, they'll get legal representation from the Fair Use Project or from a list of firms willing to represent at a reduced rate. Just another market driven solution to copyright concerns faced by media creators, brought to you by Lessig's team of extraordinary thinkers.
