SF Half Marathon / Team in Training

I've just joined the Silicon Valley Team in Training chapter to train for a half marathon this Spring.

All Team in Training members commit to raise funds as part of their training. So to all you nameless readers out there in Cyberland, I'd really appreciate any donations. To donate, just visit my Team in Training page, where you can do it all online:

I ran the New York Marathon back East in 1997, but a 10k would be a challenge for me at this point. I ran the Turkey Trot in San Jose last weekend and had a tough time getting up and down some of those hills.

Team In Training raises funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma. I've lost many family members to cancer over the years, so this is a cause I'm very happy to support.

Also, if you’d like me to run in honor of any of your loved ones that have been affected by cancer, I will place their name on my race jersey for the race. Just let me know.

I very much appreciate the support. It's nice to both get in shape and support a good cause at the same time.

Colin, good luck with your training. My first marathon was through Team In Training back in 1999. But like you, I can barely pull off a 10K today. So, ironically this morning, I printed out a training schedule of my own for running the SF 1/2 in February. We'll have to encourage each other on the training and swap training stories. Good luck.
Oh, and BTW, listening to podcasts on those training runs is a great way to multitask... I know, it's scary that I don't ever seem to unplug anymore :)

I dunno, I think I need something with a little more of a beat to get me going. Maybe we could encourage David to do his next Hearsay Culture as a rap, with an ongoing beat underneath -- now that's something that could get me past mile 12! :)
