Good Info Design Helps Clients Get Justice

The problem? Not enough access to justice for those in need of legal services.
A solution: Legal information design that puts the client first.

For CIS Student Fellow Margaret Hagan, one of the access to justice barriers is information design, how information is presented and experienced by the user.
"I see design as having a real role to play here. It's about putting the client first, about looking at what the client needs and preferences are and what they want from law and how they can relate to law."
Hagan then looks at solutions that can be developed with lawyers working together with coders, programmers and designers and serve the client better. "At the core of it, even if they don't realize it, lawyers are designers."
Hagan was featured as part of the ABA Journal's 2013 Legal Rebels project.
