Balancing Freedom of Expression and the Containment of Online Hate

In their new book, Viral Hate: Containing its Spread on the Internet, Anti-Defamation League National Director Abraham Foxman and Privacy Lawyer/ADL National Civil Rights Chair Christopher Wolf identify the threats to society and to individuals of the growing problem of online hate. Chris Wolf will speak about the findings in the book on the growth and effects of online hate, and the possible societal responses, with special emphasis on the need to protect free expression while protecting personal dignity. He will discuss the shared responsibilities for addressing the problem, including for Internet platforms such as Facebook and Google.
