Jewish American filmmaker Justine Shapiro and her 6 year-old son Mateo, spend the summer with three middle-class families in Tehran, Iran transcending overt politics in favor of subtle, human, and often humorous moments. Over the course of three months, Shapiro and her son experience the daily life of three middle class families from very different backgrounds in Tehran. Our Summer in Tehran goes behind the traditional mainstream media headlines and explores a fascinating, yet strikingly familiar home of the "enemy." The discussant for this film is Academy Award nominated, Emmy award-winning, feature documentary filmmaker Justine Shapiro.
