Privacy, Security & Power: The State of Digital Surveillance

January 27, 2017 8:30 am
Presented By: Connecticut Law Review

Description: Our personal lives — whether communications, purchases, photos, or merely physical or virtual sites visited — are being recorded and, in the process, becoming potentially less private. What is the current state of digital surveillance? The Connecticut Law Review’s annual symposium will feature four panels of experts who will address some of the most important and challenging legal issues that society faces as it seeks to balance considerations of privacy and security. Topics to be explored include: how the 1789 All Writs Act relates to modern-day questions regarding digital encryption; the disparate impact of surveillance and encryption policies across the population; the role of the regulatory state vis-à-vis data aggregators; and identifying emerging issues. Eligible for Connecticut CLE credits.
