RSVP is required for this free event.

Matt Cagle is a Technology and Civil Liberties Attorney at the ACLU of Northern California, where he focuses on privacy, free speech, and government surveillance. At the ACLU, Matt promotes privacy and free speech best business practices, conducts public records investigations, litigates in state and federal courts, and works on legislation at the local and state level. Matt has led the ACLU’s work to pass legislation regulating the use of surveillance technology by local law enforcement, and most recently he authored an ACLU report exposing Amazon’s efforts to market its face surveillance technology to government agencies. Prior to joining the ACLU, Matt was an associate with BlurryEdge Strategies, a legal practice that advises startups on privacy issues. Matt will discuss building a practice in the field of digital rights law, his path to working at one of the country’s foremost legal nonprofit organizations, and how his time at Stanford Law helped shape his career.
